The next meeting of the Cross-Party Group on Tibet will be at the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday 25th June, 2019 at the usual Time of 6-8pm. We have the great pleasure of welcoming the Tibetan Sikyong, Lobsang Sangay, President of the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamsala, to address the Group.
Dr Lobsang Sangay is Sikyong (President) of the Central Tibetan Administration, more often known as the Tibetan Government-in-Exile in Dharamsala, India. Dr Sangay took office in August 2011 as the first fully-democratically elected Tibetan Prime-Minister, a position that was changed to that of Sikyong (President) following the 14th Dalai Lama’s resignation from political leadership. In February 2016, Dr Sangay was re-elected to his position as Sikyong of the CTA.
Dr Sangay was born in exile in Darjeeling, India in 1968. He holds American citizenship and is a lawyer by profession, having studied at Harvard on a Fulbright Scholarship.
As usual, the meeting is open to the public, but please e-mail the Secretary, Dr. Martin Mills, at m.a.mills at abdn.ac.uk, to give notice of your wish to attend.
